What happens when you love wood tile but you can not afford the bathroom reno or it would not quite fit with your modern decor? You add just a few wood tiles to your shower shelf. Even a simple change like this can give your whole shower a new look, adding an element you love so much without overwhelming your bathroom.
Almost everything we have seen so far of wood tile in the shower has been laid horizontally. But that does not mean you can not lay your wood pattern vertically. What might have been rather boring and cliche will turn interesting and modern, just because your pattern goes an unexpected way.
Here is an interesting twist: a subway tile shower enclosure with the tiles installed vertically instead of horizontally. This puts an emphasis on the height of the space plus the vertical lines of the tile pattern aligns with the window frame, the mirrors and other elements in the bathroom.
It is also nice that the shower fits in the corner of the bathroom and has a transparent glass enclosure which maintains an open feel throughout the room. Rustic can be such a fun style to use around the house.
You can feel free to choose furniture made from unfinished wood. Wall art can include nature prints and antlers. No plaid is off limits. But for some spaces you might feel like you can only do so much. For example, take the bathroom. Once you have chosen your plaid shower curtain and wood lined mirror, what else can you do to give it the rustic vibes without making it an outhouse?
